Groves Hospital Foundation and Pine Meadows Residents would like to share some incredible news. Pine Meadows Residents have officially exceeded their goal of $500,000 for the New Groves Hospital!

Residents initially pledged $250,000 for the redevelopment of the previous Groves Hospital. They came together and raised the funds in 2002-2006. The Ministry of Health decided that a new hospital was needed, to expand capacity for our growing community. Funds were held in trust by Groves Hospital Foundation and kept to be used towards the build of a new hospital, which opened on Aug. 9, 2020.

In 2017, the Residents of Pine Meadows decided to raise an additional $250,000 for the New Groves Hospital, for a total commitment of $500,000. The combined gifts were recognized with the naming of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. A fundraising committee was established to oversee the fundraising and rally the residents behind their new fundraising target. Led by Sue Anderson, six committee members planned, organized, and volunteered their time holding many events for residents and the community.

Sue shared: “The execution of the events was certainly a community effort, with the exceptional support from our residents. We also thank our amazing local sponsors for our silent auctions. Many of our residents also made personal donations and gave up recognition to count their gifts towards our goal. We are so proud to have come together as a group and met our goal for our community’s hospital!”

Recently, a matching challenge by residents pushed the fundraising past the $500,000 mark! They offered to match Pine Meadows Residents’ gifts from May 1 – June 30, up to $15,000. They chose to give because; “Our hospital is so important to us and to all of the residents. If we have not already done so, we are all going to be using Groves at some point…it is vital to our lives!”

Lori Arsenault, executive director of Groves Hospital Foundation, said; “Pine Meadows Residents have been incredibly committed to our hospital for 22 years now. We are so thankful for their ongoing support of Groves. We congratulate them on coming together in such a meaningful way, to raise half a million dollars and help ensure the future of our hospital. Thank you to everyone who has helped this goal become a reality – it is truly such an exciting milestone for all of you!”
A celebration and ceremonial cheque presentation to Groves Hospital Foundation was held at Pine Meadows on July 3rd, attended by Foundation representative and residents.
