Guelph resident charged with impaired driving in Fergus

On December 24, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road, Fergus.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, a Guelph resident was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possess Licence While Prohibited contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on January 10, 2025.
