No date yet set for opening of new Elora McDonald's

McDonald's Canada could not share a timeline for opening yet

A McDonald's is in the process of being built in Elora on Wellington Road 7 on the edge of town.

ELORA – It's not yet known when the fast food giant will be coming to Elora but the signs of it coming are clear on Wellington Road 7.

A McDonald's with a drive-thru is under construction in Elora at 94 Wellington Rd. 7 beside the Gorge Country Kitchen. Council had cleared the way for this construction by removing a holding provision last summer.

Construction crews were on site when visited by EloraFergusToday and the general structure of the restaurant, including the sign tower of a modern McDonald's, was in place.

A spokesperson for McDonald's Canada declined to share an opening date or goal but said they would make an announcement closer to the opening date.

This would be the first McDonald's restaurant in Elora and second in Centre Wellington as there is one in Fergus on Tower Street. 

The McDonald's is considered phase one of a development at this parcel of land. A grocery store is intended to go behind the McDonald's at 22 Park Rd. The zoning bylaw amendment and official plan amendments to allow this have not been approved by council at this time.
