MOUNT FOREST – The emergency department at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest is again forced to temporarily close.

A media release from North Wellington Health Care said the hospital’s ED will close due to “staffing shortages” on Saturday at 1 p.m. and will reopen the next morning on Sunday Nov. 19 at 7 a.m.

Staffing shortages have been blamed in past media releases for five other similar ED closures at the Mount Forest hospital this year — twice in July and three times in September.

Patients are asked to call 911 in case of a medical emergency with ambulance service still available to the community. Patients will be rerouted to surrounding hospitals.

The closest Emergency Departments to Louise Marshall Hospital are:

  • Palmerston – Palmerston & District Hospital (20 minutes)
  • Listowel – Listowel Memorial Hospital (32 minutes)
  • Hanover – Hanover and District Hospital (33 minutes)
  • South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Walkerton (37 minutes)
  • Fergus – Groves Memorial Community Hospital (37 minutes)

The release reminded residents to confirm these hospitals are not experiencing emergency department closures before going.
