It was all things Scottish on Tartan Day in Fergus

The event brought out a big crowd to celebrate all that is Scottish with live Celtic-style music, a history walk, and the 'McKiddies Highland Games' for children

Downtown Fergus was full of piping, music and yes, lots of tartan at the annual Tartan Day, on Sunday.

The event brought out a big crowd to celebrate all that is Scottish with live Celtic-style music, a history walk, and the “McKiddies Highland Games” for children, who were ready to give some Highland inspired games a try, including the caber toss and LARP archer.

"This is a perfect segue to our Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games in August," said Megan Thoms McDougall, organizer of the 'McKiddies Highland Games'.

"It's great to have some Scottish activities for the kids. This is a joint venture with the local BIA and offers just a taste of what's to come in August."

Mystery Fergus Beer was launched at the event, a collaboration between the Outpost Bottle Shop and Goodlot Farmstead Brewery.

Local shops participated in the festivities including The Bookery which offered Celtic henna tattoos, and Nordic Rune readings.

Live music was also available at The Breadalbane, The Brewhouse, Goofie Newfie, and Outpost Bottle Shop throughout the day.
