HILLSBURGH – An arena in the Town of Erin is closed until further notice due to a leak.
A notice from the town stated the Hillsburgh Arena is closed due to a brine refrigerant leak under the ice floor.
“In order to locate the leak, the ice will need to be removed to allow for leak testing and radar/x-ray of the arena floor to determine the location of the leak,” the notice said.
“Once the leak is found, the extent of the damage will be determined before it can be repaired.”
A feasibility study from a consultant regarding the town’s existing recreational facilities recommended the Town of Erin dispose of the Hillsburgh Arena and replace with a twin pad at Barbour Field.
