CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington staff recommend lowering the speed limits on a few road segments around the township.

A report going forward would see the township’s speed regulation bylaw updated to see lower speeds on some roads.

Included is a recommendation to add flashing 40 km/h signs for St. David Street North between Woodhill Drive and Parkside Drive.

The report said this is to accommodate busy school traffic and a 40 km/h speed limit would be in effect from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Staff also investigated concerns from residents on Union Street West and South River Road and concluded the posted speed limit on Union Street West from Tower Street to the beginning of South River Road should be reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h.

It also recommended South River Road’s posted limit be reduced from 60 km/h to 50 km/h from the end of Union Street West to east of Haylock Avenue.

In rural Centre Wellington, staff recommend lowering the speed limit on Seventh Line, 300 metres north of Sideroad 30 to Sideroad 30, from 80 km/h to 50 km/h due to future rehabilitation on a bridge in this section.

Council will consider these changes at a meeting on Monday.
