ERIN — Residents should be wary of upcoming Main Street closures for Remembrance Day events this weekend.
The Town of Erin has announced Main Street will be temporarily closed this Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a "hard close" between Tin Roof Café and East Church Street to allow for the Legion's annual Remembrance Day parade at 11:30 a.m.
A detour route on both days will run vehicular traffic along Wellington 52, Wellington 124 and Sideroad 17.
Preceded by a Remembrance Day service in front of the Erin Cenotaph at 10:45 a.m, the parade route will run from the Erin Cenotaph on the corner of Union Street back to the Erin Legion at 12 Dundas St. E.
On Monday, Main St. will be temporarily closed from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a "hard close" at Lions Park Avenue to East Church Street. The detour route is the same as Sunday's.
The 242 Ross Ferguson Cadet Squadron will also hold an overnight vigil at the Cenotaph from 8 p.m. on Sunday until 8 a.m. the next morning, which residents are encouraged to stop and observe.
