PUSLINCH – A major provincial construction project around the Hanlon Expressway will require a lengthy closure of a county road.

Wellington Road 34 will be closed between Concession 7 and Wellington Road 54 to accommodate construction of a bridge going over the Hanlon on Wellington Road 34 until summer 2025.

Wellington County roads manager Joe de Koning explained in a phone call this means Wellington Road 34 will be effectively inaccessible from the Hanlon, aside from local traffic.

Wellington Road 54 is a new road connecting Concession 7 and the new overpass with Wellington Road 34 on the western side of the highway.

During this bridge construction, traffic will be required to use the new mid-block interchange overpass.

This is part of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s improvements to Highway 6 and the 401 between Guelph and Hamilton, which is set to eventually include the long-awaited Morriston bypass.
