A developer is proposing to build 50 units at a lot on St. David Street North.

FERGUS – The north end of Fergus could see another 50 housing units just off St. David Street North on the edge of town should a rezoning application be approved.

According to a planning report by MHBC, a developer is proposing to build 37 townhouses and 13 single homes on an “L” shaped property at 961 St. David St. N between Sideroad 19 and Sideroad 18.

This is almost across the street from another proposal of 112 stacked townhomes at the New To You property that was subject to a public meeting in September where some raised concerns about traffic.

The 3.4 acre land currently has a home and accessory buildings that will be demolished to make way for the proposed development.

Parking is said to be provided by a driveway and garage for each unit.

“The subject lands are an underdeveloped parcel within the Fergus Urban Centre and are surrounded by a variety of residential and highway commercial uses within proximity to institutional uses and other public service uses,” a planning justification report stated.

Comments on this application should be submitted to the clerk by Dec. 8 via email at [email protected].

A public meeting for this application is yet to be scheduled.
