Suspicious vehicle stop leads to charges for Guelph driver: OPP

CENTRE WELLINGTON — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Guelph resident with numerous provincial offences.

On Dec. 8, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a suspicious motor vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Tower Street North within the Town of Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old from Guelph was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Tabacco Tax Act with:

  • Driving while under suspension (three counts)
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
