HARRISTON – The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after an officer shot two male teenagers with a "less-lethal firearm" during a disturbance call in Harriston.
The SIU said Wellington County OPP were called to a home in Harriston Tuesday, and saw two males causing damage to the home.
"Officers attempted to negotiate and an officer fired and struck both males with anti-riot weapon enfield (ARWEN) rounds," the SIU wrote in a media release.
The boys were arrested and taken to hospital. The OPP add the two suffered minor injuries.
The SIU was called in because an officer discharged a firearm.
