Police lay assault charge following incident in Fergus

CENTRE WELLINGTON — Police say one person is facing a criminal charge after the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call about an assault Monday in Centre Wellington.

Police say at around 7 a.m., the OPP received a report of an assault at an address on Elora Street in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Fergus resident was arrested and charged with assault, contrary to Sec 266 of the Criminal Code, according to an OPP news release.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
