BRAMPTON, Ont. — A religious leader in Brampton, Ont., has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a female during a religious ceremony.
Peel police say a 69-year-old man from Brampton was charged Friday with one count of sexual assault.
They say the alleged assault took place on Monday when the accused attended a home to perform a religious ceremony.
Police did not immediately respond to an email asking what religion the accused is and the age of the alleged victim.
A press release from Peel Regional Police says the accused has been a religious leader in the Brampton community for several years and investigators believe there are more victims.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
