September 17th, 1939 - September 25th, 2024
It was a soft rain at the break of dawn when Jeanne made a graceful exit from this life to the next, at Hospice Wellington. She was surrounded by the love of her children; Cheryl (Greg), Dale (Noreen), Brad (Jackie), Rob (Terri) and Scott (Sari). Jeanne is a much loved older sister of Nancy (Gerry), Donna (Bruce), Gary (Joan) and Deb (Wayne), sister in law to Wayne, Dianne, Susie, Lorraine and Doug, cherished Grandma T to 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, with another on the way.
Married in 1956, Jeanne and Dean (Taylor) worked hard while raising the kids in a haven of happiness. Together they enjoyed antiquing, dancing, travelling, casinos and great times with family and friends. Dean died suddenly in 2000 leaving Jeanne recently retired to carve out a new life, which she did. Always curious, she ventured into new hobbies and widened her circle of friends. With a second chance at love, Jeanne and Aubrey Richardson were married in 2007, widening their combined circles, they enjoyed years of travelling till Aubrey’s passing in 2010. Jeanne settled in Fergus in 2011 and has since been part of a caring condo circle of friends who were her rock. Together they survived COVID watching out for each other.
Jeanne was a dedicated employee with the Bank of Montreal for 31 years. There were many other jobs while raising her family but she enjoyed her friendships developed at BMO. She was a long-time member of Bethany United Church, the UCW, and followed its amalgamation to the Hope Springs United Church of Elora. When no longer able to physically attend she logged in by Zoom on a weekly basis. Never one to turn down a game of Euchre, or many other games of cards, Jeanne also became a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed watching curling. She valued her friendships, stopped sending Christmas cards many years ago but replaced it with phone calls to catch up.
Her final days were spent at Hospice Wellington where she enjoyed the many visitors, the pizza party, her sister's birthday and then her own 85th birthday celebration. There are no words to describe the exemplary care that hospice provided both to Jeanne and her family.
Visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus on Tuesday, October 1st from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd at 11 AM, followed by lunch at the Fergus Legion, 500 Blair Street, Fergus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation, Hospice Wellington or Aboyne Rural Hospice, and are greatly appreciated by Jeanne’s family.
