Friday, July 19th, marked the sudden passing of Andrew (Drew) Christison, as a result of an accident.

Son of Andrew and Annie Christison, (née Cameron) of Glasgow, Scotland, the family emigrated to Canada in the 60’s, settling in New Toronto.

Drew leaves behind his partner, Meredith Dorion, and his children of whom he was very proud, Michael, Roberta (Sean), Eric, Ian, and his grandson, Ryeley; his sister Catherine “Rene” and brother David and many cousins back in Scotland and here at home. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Michelle.

Drew was a gifted soccer player and known through football circles, here and abroad, playing for many amateur teams, most notably The Toronto Emeralds, and later as part of their coaching staff in the 70’s. During a remarkable working career, he was respected among colleagues in Toronto’s construction industry - a foreman on the CN Tower, then as a business owner, project manager and consultant, specializing in commercial, institutional HVAC and mechanical contracting for almost 50 years.

Drew was known to make acquaintances and friends with ease, a charismatic character with a big presence and personality, always quick-witted and a natural story-teller, generous of his time and loyal to those he cared for and respected. He loved his coaching activities with Peewee Hockey and the Toronto Royals National Hockey Bantam AA teams, sponsoring soccer teams, mentoring young players and work colleagues and always, even when retired, offered advice and support to anyone who needed it.

He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, colleagues and teammates. As a fitting tribute, a Celebration of Life will be held August 8, 2024 from 2-6pm at the Breadalbane Inn, 487 St. Andrew Street West in Fergus, ON, an opportunity to honour a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be welcome. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
