Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus at the age of 93.

Beloved husband of the late Ruth Biggs and cherished father of Douglas (Colleen). Loving grandfather of Ryan Biggs and Gavin Biggs.

Lionel is predeceased by his sister Kathleen Pembleton (Donald), brothers Stan Biggs (Lillian) and George Biggs. Lionel is also remembered by many extended family and friends.

Lionel was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario and spent most of his younger years in the great outdoors.  He loved farming, fishing and hunting.  He culminated his outdoor adventures as a fishing guide in the Parry Sound area.

Lionel then re-established himself back in Guelph. He was an active member of Norfolk United Church where he was choir director, assistant Christmas pageant director and social convener.  He spent a number of years travelling with Ruth as a wedding singer.

Lionel was a committed and hardworking citizen of Guelph, spending most of his career as a crane operator at General Electric and Armco.

We would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus.  They did an excellent job of taking care of Lionel in the short time he was there.
