Wellington County Library is inviting young writers to unleash their creativity in the annual Olive and Fred Robins Junior Short Story Contest, open for submissions on Tuesday, October 1. This exciting competition encourages students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 who reside or attend school in Wellington County to submit their original short stories for a chance to win a cash prize and see their work published.

“This contest provides a great opportunity for students to practice their writing skills and try out new ideas,” said Danielle Drimmie, Information Services Librarian, Programming. “We love reading all the submissions and sharing our favourites with everyone in the County.”

From Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, aspiring authors can submit their original stories between 500 and 750 words. The contest emphasizes creativity and originality, with stories judged by a committee after the submission deadline.

Two winners will receive a $150 cash prize, and their stories will be featured on the Wellington County Library website and submitted for potential publication in the Wellington Advertiser.

Last year's contest celebrated remarkable talent, and the library looks forward to showcasing even more imaginative stories this year.
