NEWS RELEASE
TREE TRUST LEGACY
*************************
This year is the first annual Tree Trust Legacy Tree Ceremony for the Mount Forest Green Team's Tree Trust Chapter.

Our first Tree Care recipient is a magnificent Amur Cork tree growing behind the Mount Forest Post Office, 170 Wellington St W.

This unique tree provides shade for a the local bus stop.

Two new Tulip Tree Saplings will be planted AND Fir saplings will be handed out to commemorate our first Tree Trust Ceremony!

Nominator: The Mount Forest Green Team and the Tree Trust arborist, Manuela Demedeiros, shared:

We decided this would be a great recipient of care due to the unique species and the important role it plays for bus riders to enjoy shade in the intense heat, and other inclement weather. It is not super old but has great potential if cared for appropriately to become of great stature in years to come!

Please join us at the base of this unique tree for our 2024 Tree Celebration, on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. We will have musicians, an historian and Mayor Andy Lennox will  be there.

We will be hearing facts about this Amur Cork tree from arborist Manuela Demedeiros and we will watch Toby (Owner of Tober Tree Management) and Phil Guenter scale this stunner of a tree and cheer them on as they execute the TLC for our chosen tree!

Parking available behind the Post Office.

A big thank you to the Tree Trust Head office for their assistance with our first annual event, the Mount Forest Green Team, Manuela Demedeiros and Toby Guenther for the tree care, our local mayor and historian, as well as Mat Timberlake representing the Wellington Heights Kelp Program who will be bringing fir saplings to distribute to participants in our big day!

Thanks also to Echo Foundation, which sponsors the Tree of the Year program.
