CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township of Centre Wellington is looking to rezone its own property to pave the way for the municipality’s first business park.

The current development applications page on Centre Wellington’s website lists 6518 First Line, the Fergus Business Park, as having an application for a zoning bylaw amendment.

A notice said the purpose is to make changes to the permitted uses and lot regulations as well as implement the recommendations from the business park strategy.

The strategy, approved in 2021, envisions the business park as “somewhat upscale” from other industrial developments in the area and target users would be businesses, typically manufacturers, looking for buildings between 10,000 and 50,000 square feet.

In summer 2024, Hammond Manufacturing was announced as the first to buy into the Fergus Business Park.

The public meeting on this application will be held on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.
