ERIN – The Town of Erin honoured community members and businesses at a recent awards ceremony.
The town presented the Shamrock Awards Wednesday evening to individuals, organizations and businesses who have made a significant contribution to the community during the 2022 calendar year.
A press release said nominations were submitted by residents and winners were chosen based on the strength of the nomination by council and on a ranked ballot system. Winners did not need to be Erin residents but had to have made an impact in the community.
Five community volunteer awards were presented to Gerry Walsh, Venus Hood, Luke Longstreet, Audrey Devonshire and Val Bush.
Realtor and Erin Chamber of Commerce chair Ann Shanahan received the citizen of the year award.
The other winners were:
- Farmstead Fresh, innovation award
- Erin Pharmacy, business of the year award
- Budson Farm and Feed, agriculture/agri-business award
- Nathan Audette, environment award
“We are very fortunate to live in a community where everyone’s hard work and contributions have enhanced our town tremendously,” said Mayor Michael Dehn in a press release. “Without volunteers, many events and organizations that are core elements of the town of Erin would be left wanting. It is our individual and collective actions that helps in creating a strong, interconnected, vibrant community.”
