CENTRE WELLINGTON – Two large housing proposals are on the agenda for Wednesday's public meeting.
Starting at 6 p.m. at Centre Wellington’s township office in Elora, members of the public can have their say on housing proposals.
The first is a rezoning request that would facilitate a new apartment building in south Fergus that could accommodate up to 100 units. The three-acre site is located at 77 McQueen Blvd. off Tower Street South.
The developer previously told EloraFergusToday the plan will remain within R4 zoning rules which permits a height of four storeys or 15 metres. Whether or not the building will be rentals, owned or a mixture was still being reviewed.
The other proposal is a large townhouse development in Elora that would see a new community of 273 townhouses built on Wellington Road 7 north of David Street.
This would be a mix of conventional townhomes, live/work townhomes and back-to-back units with a park block, a parkette and visitor parking for both vehicles and bicycles.
At an open house meeting held earlier in the year, many members of the public had expressed concern around increased traffic and the impact a huge increase in population would have on the community.
