2 p.m. update: On Sept. 21, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured person below the David Street Bridge in the Elora Gorge.

Emergency services attended and located the individual without vital signs. They pronounced deceased at scene.

Wellington County OPP along with the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) are currently investigating the death.

12:28 p.m. update:
On Sept. 21, 2021 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured person below the David Street Bridge, Elora.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services are actively involved with the situation. The bridge remains closed at this time. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

ELORA – Wellington County OPP is reporting they are currently on the scene in Elora conducting an investigation that has resulted in the closure of David Street West.

Few details are available, but OPP say there is no threat to public safety.

David Street West is closed between Smith Street and Wellington Road 7.
