He might have been very boring, but he sure was persistent.
Kathy Cameron of Minto discovered a treasure trove of postcards one day in the loft of her parents' shed, hand-written messages of love and hope from her nana's Hilda Cunningham's young suitor as he away serving in World War I.
It was a little one-sided, as her grandmother never felt the same way about Cpl. Sydney Lawrence.
There were over 100 postcards in the collection.
"Young women would often send men off to war with hope – whether they meant it or not – so I think that may have been part of it," said Cameron. "But when I did ask Nana why she never married him, she said 'he was very boring.'"
