ELORA – The Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) is ready to officially showcase its new outdoor pavilion.
Named the MacDonald Pavilion, a press release stated the outdoor stage area is part of ECFTA’s "greenspace activation plan" that includes an outdoor accessible pathway project with art installations, bicycle parking, maps benches and picnic tables.
“Our hope is that the new performance pavilion will provide a vibrant gathering space that encourages connection and artistic expression for our community and for the cultural opportunities within the region” said Lianne Carter, ECFTA executive director, in a news release.
The MacDonald Pavilion received grant funding from the federal government and the local MacDonald Trust Fund. Construction began in fall 2022 and continued through winter.
The release said the ECFTA consulted a sound specialist who offered advice on directing and absorbing sound which the design incorporates through the slanted roof and insulated stone walls to absorb sound.
The MacDonald Pavilion will get its first use as part of the upcoming Craft Gin Festival on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The pavilion is available for community booking with information on how to do so found here.
