NEWS RELEASE
ELORA CENTRE FOR THE ARTS

A new curated exhibition entitled ‘Mimosa’ in the gallery at the Arts Centre aims to celebrate and uplift the beauty and strength of women. Six artists have been selected whose art focuses on the boldness of women: Danielle Arnold, Rosalinde Baumgartner, Indra Dosanjh, Carol Folino, Jessica Spooner and Janice Thomson. ‘Mimosa’ is comprised of paintings, photography, mixed media, textiles and sculpture. Artists featured in this exhibition celebrate the feminine form, powerful women who have come before us, the essence of positive feminine energy and the shared hopes and journeys that unite us all.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with Impower Wellness, and visitors will be encouraged by the stories and images of fortitude and force presented by this talented group of female artists.
Visitors are invited to leave a note of empowerment on the billboard in the gallery, so that others can be supported by the collective power of a community of positive messages.
“The title of the exhibition was chosen because the Mimosa flower is traditionally the symbol of female strength” says Lianne Carter, Executive Director at the Elora Centre for the Arts. “A single mimosa flower is lovely on its own, but as a group of flowers in a bouquet it is truly stunning. Just like women, we are stronger and more beautiful when we stand together” she says.
An Opening Reception for the ‘Mimosa’ exhibition will take place on Sunday March 24 from 2-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to meet the artists, enjoy a mimosa and connect with community.
Gallery hours are Wednesday - Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition will run until Sunday May 12, 2024.
