WELLINGTON NORTH — A new agreement with the township will make accessing local snowmobile trails a little easier.
Approved at a Wellington North council meeting Monday evening, the municipality has formed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mount Forest Drifters Snowmobile Club so the club can cross over a portion of township property.
Approaching the township in September, the group said this agreement will help with trail connectivity.
The trail starts near the OPP detachment station on Main Street North, running diagonally toward the Southgate border.
This is the only formal snowmobiling corridor in the township covered by the memorandum of understanding.
Through the agreement, the club will provide insurance of up to $10 million, which is "preferable" to the township's and will pay for all associated title registration costs.
Staff said the township will continue working with the OPP to address trespassing on trails in other locations.
There was no discussion at the meeting.
