Local seniors programs getting provincial cash injection

282 projects around Ontario is getting support from the $6 million being doled out

Some provincial money is heading to the area to benefit seniors programs.

Both the Townships of Mapleton and Wellington North are getting $21,700 as part of an annual grants focused toward keeping seniors and older adults active, fit and healthy.

According to a release from the province, the Mapleton grant will allow the township to “deliver the Wisdom Workshop Series, designed to address interests, stay connected and to improve the physical safety of participants.”

In Wellington North, its grant will give about 600 seniors the opportunity to learn and utilize technology safely and effectively, so they can connect with both family and the community.

In Guelph, The Elliott is getting $6,978 to provide access to healthy eating tips and exercise programs.

Around $6 million was given out to support 282 projects around Ontario.
