Today, Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington announced $1,262,500 in provincial funding to support three local manufacturing projects and their cumulative investment of over $10.5 million for the area.

“This is another example of our government investing in local manufacturing and creating good-paying jobs locally,” said MPP Rae. “Through its investments, our government is supporting economic growth while strengthening our rural communities.”

This investment is being made through the province’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund to boost local manufacturing and create 42 new good-paying, high-skilled jobs in Wellington County.

“Our government is proud to support local manufacturers across the province as they grow and create more good-paying jobs in their communities,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “We thank Cook & Denison, Newdon, and Xanadu Homes for their investment and for contributing to our province’s dynamic and growing the manufacturing sector.”

“Wellington County appreciates these investments as it will build our strong manufacturing sector and build economic resiliency in our community,” said Andy Lennox, Warden of Wellington County.

Cooke & Denison Limited will receive $500,000 from the Government of Ontario to support an upgrade to their Fergus-based manufacturing facility. Cooke & Denison fabricates steel components for aerospace, nuclear and automotive industries. The government’s investment, designed to boost the production of specialized parts, will more than triple employment at the facility.

In Fergus, Newdon Industries will receive $262,500 to support their expansion into new foreign markets and create more jobs. The company specializes in the manufacturing of packing supply products in sectors such as food, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.

“We were very pleased to qualify for the funding of our project,” said Kevin Maggs, President of Newdon Industries Ltd. “Without this new machinery we would not be able to continue to run. Once it is up and running, we will be able to create new, higher tech jobs and improve the working conditions for our employees. We will also be able to produce new products.”

In Elora, Xanadu Homes Ltd., a leading cabinet manufacturer and home renovator, is set to receive $500,000. This new investment will support the construction of an 18,000 square foot facility. The new facility will include state-of-the-art equipment and boost Xanadu Home’s productivity.

“This new facility will feature cutting-edge equipment designed to enhance our production capabilities, elevate craftsmanship, and maintain our position as an industry leader,” said Bill Van de Ven, an owner of Xandu Homes. “By integrating advanced technology and sustainable practices, we aim to set a new standard for cabinet manufacturing in Canada.

“This milestone underscores our commitment to excellence, innovation, and our local community,” Bill added. “With the support of SWODF, Xanadu Homes is proud to contribute to the economic and cultural vibrancy of Southwestern Ontario. Together, we're not just renovating homes—we’re transforming lives.

Ontario is investing $180 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 135 projects through the program, leveraging more than $1.9 billion in new investments and helping to create over 3,500 jobs.
