GUELPH/WELLINGTON – A fundraising campaign for local youth services network is getting some help from a local manufacturer.

In a press release, the Grove Hubs announced their goal to raise $200,000 by the end of 2021 with Linamar Corp. pledging to match the total.

“I am inspired by our younger generations every day. They deserve a future where they are empowered to learn, grow and thrive and should have the support they need to do so. After all, they are our future,” Jim Jarrell, president and COO of Linamar Corp., stated in the release.

The Grove Hubs are a network of supportive services under one roof geared towards helping youth aged 12 to 26 with guidance for the future.

The release states the region has seen a 40 per cent increase in demand for youth mental health services and waiting lists that didn’t exist before the pandemic are now a reality.

“By supporting this fundraising campaign, donors are funding tutoring services, group therapy sessions, free wi-fi access for homework completion and more for over 146,000 youth who live in Guelph and Wellington County,” the release states.

“This is what community is all about. Coming together to support each other after a difficult two years, especially for our youth,” said Guelph mayor Cam Guthrie in the release. “I commend Linamar for their matching donation, and thank everyone who donates to support youth mental health and wellness. I know this project will make a significant difference.”

Three sites are open in Fergus, Erin and Palmerston with four more planned in Guelph including an upcoming location at U of G.
