An Indigenous artist is heading to Fergus to cap off a tour of southern Ontario.

Adrian Sutherland is playing at the Fergus Grand Theatre March 11. The recording artist from the James Bay coastal community of Attawapiskat, released his first solo album in Sept. 2021 after building a recording studio in a backyard shipping container due to the pandemic.

The album When The Magic Hits earned him a Juno nomination for contemporary Indigenous artist of the year last year, as well as a nomination for Indigenous songwriter of the year at the upcoming Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Sutherland is described as a roots-rock recording artist, and was originally the founding member of an all-Cree band Midnight Shine.

Tickets to the event are available online.
