ELORA – There’s a new spot to grab your McMuffins and Big Macs in Centre Wellington.

On Wednesday morning, the newly built Elora McDonald’s opened its doors to its first guests on Wellington Road 7 on the edge of the village.

This is the seventh location owned and operated by Jennifer Antolin and Antolin Enterprises, who also owns five McDonald’s in Guelph and recently acquired the Fergus location.

“We are so excited to serve this community with our signature food hospitality,” said Trevor Westerhoff, community and guest relations with Antolin Enterprises.

“We've already felt a warm welcome as future guests we've met have expressed their eagerness for us to open the doors. A lot of hard work has gone into this and Jennifer and I are so grateful to our team for getting us ready for this moment.”

As part of the grand opening celebration, a portion of all sales until Nov. 27 will be going towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington.

“Supporting our community is a huge part of the way we operate and we're proud to be raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington for our grand opening fundraiser,” Westerhoff said.

He said the restaurant has brought 75 jobs to the area and is a brand new design with a smaller front counter area due to the increased digital sales through the self-serve kiosks, mobile apps and delivery services.

The drive-thru will be open 24 hours a day.

Right after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the restaurant began to fill with customers grabbing a quick bite to go or locals having a coffee and a chat.

Ty Bossence was the first dine-in customer and got a McMuffin, a strawberry smoothie and two apple pies. He was happy to have a McDonald’s open near his work.

“Not many things are 24 hours in Elora, it’s nice to have that,” Bossence said.

Brennan Alexander, customer number two who got a breakfast burrito and a McGriddle, was also happy to have it close to his work in Elora.

“It’s pretty convenient, saves the drive to Fergus,” Alexander said.

The restaurant will be holding a grand opening celebration on Saturday which will feature face painting, children’s activities, live music and a visit from Grimace.
