ERIN ‒ The first puck is set to drop for the Erin Outlaw's Hockey Club this fall.
Announcing their official line-up in a letter coming to council on Thursday, co-presidents Dustin Scott and Ann Shanahan said the Erin Outlaws was created to provide excellent hockey, entertainment, and small-town enjoyment to residents of Erin.
This follows the town's former team, the Erin Blitz's moving to Orangeville to play in the upcoming season.
"Since the announcement of our team, the residents of Erin have gone crazy with their support. From sponsorships to volunteers, to requests for season tickets, right down to wanting to buy team swag," said Scott and Shanahan. "The residents are over the moon that Saturday night entertainment is back."
With all home games to be played at Centre 2000, the majority of their home games will take place Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. with a few on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
The club plans to involve both minor hockey clubs as well as the skating club at all of their games.
They also intend to raise money for all the Erin service groups through 50/50 draws as well as participate in community events, recently partnering with the fall fair.
The season starts Oct. 14.
