MOUNT FOREST – Residents can soon share their thoughts on an almost 100-unit development proposed for a Mount Forest neighbourhood.
The township of Wellington North is holding a public meeting on a proposed bylaw amendment to permit Wilson Developments to construct an 88-unit stacked townhouse development at 461 Wellington Street East in Mount Forest.
The subject property is 4.84 acres and currently vacant.
Staff said they have no concerns about the proposed development and consider the lot a suitable size with adequate space for things like landscaping, parking, and amenity areas on site.
Vehicles will access the development through an entrance off Wellington Street East and staff have confirmed that “including the projected traffic, the intersection of Wellington Road E and London Road will continue to operate at acceptable levels and a second access to Birmingham St. E. is not required.”
One resident, Harry Engel has already submitted a letter of concern about the proposal fitting in with the township's "master plan," traffic and new development causing an "abrupt and unattractive change" in the neighbourhood.
The public meeting will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday online or in-person at Wellington North's council chambers at 7490 Sideroad 7 W, Kenilworth.
