GUELPH/ERAMOSA – If you’re being approached by a bylaw officer in Rockwood or elsewhere in Guelph/Eramosa and you’re positive you have done nothing wrong, don’t panic.

You might be getting a “positive ticket” through a new township campaign looking to reward residents who follow bylaws.

The Township of Guelph/Eramosa has announced the Positive Ticketing Campaign, an initiative it says is to celebrate and encourage “good behaviour” within the community.

“Whether you’re walking your dog on a leash, cleaning up after your pet, or maintaining your property in good repair, your positive actions will not go unnoticed,” the release says.

“Our bylaw enforcement/property standards officer will be on the lookout for these positive behaviours. When a positive act is observed or reported, a ‘positive ticket’ will be issued to recognize the good work you’re doing to keep our community safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.”

The township has partnered with an unspecified local business to offer prizes which are earned by redeeming a ticket. Bylaw officers will observe or receive a report of a resident following a township bylaw and will issue a ticket there or when the report is verified.

The Positive Ticket Campaign begins in mid-September and goes until the end of the year.
