Wellington County’s hospitals will have a new president and CEO come September.

The Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) and North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) board of directors have announced Angela Stanley will be taking over for current CEO and president Stephen Street when he retires later this year.

Stanley is currently the VP of clinical services/chief nursing executive at South Bruce Grey Health Care and interim CEO at Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance. She previously worked in long-term care, public health and as patient care manager at NWHC.

In a press release, Stanley stated she is honoured to take on this role.

“I have a passion for rural health care, and I am a strong advocate for the role community hospitals play in the larger health care system,” Stanley said.

“I am looking forward to working with the staff, physicians and our network of partners to continue to deliver compassionate care to our patients and their families.”

Stanley was on the NWHC board but took a leave of absence to participate in the recruitment process.

The selection committee consisted of representatives from each board, hospital staff and a professional staff member to conduct the search for a new president and CEO.

“Choosing a president and CEO was one of the most important activities our boards could undertake,” stated NWHC board chair Dale Small, in the release.

“We are confident that Angela has the right leadership qualities, clinical knowledge and experience to help build on the organization’s standard of excellence.”

Stanley will begin the role on Sept. 20.
