A teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Fergus had her head shaved after the school community raised over $8,000 for its Terry Fox campaign.
St. Joseph’s teacher Pam Pegelo challenged the school community to raise over $5,800 for its Terry Fox campaign and if they did, she would have her head shaved. The students surpassed the goal by raising $8,257 by going door-to-door and to family and community events to raise the money.
On Tuesday, the school community went to the back of the school where Pegelo stuck to her word and had her head shaved. Amber O'Rourke, a parent and hairdresser in Fergus did the honours and shaved Pegelo’s hair off.
St Joseph’s principal Todd Goodwin, vice-principal Luisa Silveri, and three other staff members had students pie them in the face.
