An Elora man is among the newest appointees to the Order of Canada.
John Hirdes is one of 78 new appointments announced by Governor General Mary Simon on Thursday.
Hirdes was named a member "for his contributions to evidence-based health care practice and policy, notably through the research and development of standardized assessments and decision support tools."
Hirdes works as a professor in the the school of public health sciences at the University of Waterloo.
UW president Vivek Goel congratulated Hirdes on the honour on X.
"Dr. Hirdes has spent his career working to make the provision of geriatric services and mental healthcare evidence-informed, efficient and effective in Canada & around the world," Goel said.
