Elora soap box derby returns Canada Day

Annual event returns after two-year hiatus

ELORA – The local soap box derby is back on Canada Day after a two-year hiatus. 

On the morning of July 1, Downtown Elora will turn into a raceway as soap box cars will be battling it out in search of glory and prizes. 

There are four categories to enter: 

  • Jr. aged 6 to 9 for wheels under 10” in diameter
  • Sr. aged 10 to 16 for wheels under 10” in diameter
  • Jr. aged 6 to 9 for wheels over 10” in diameter
  • Sr. aged 10 to 16 for wheels over 10” in diameter

Registration is $20 per racer and the deadline to register is June 17. 

Check in on the day of the event is at 7:30 a.m. at the Elora Cafe parking lot. Safety inspection follows at 8 a.m and races begin at 8:30 a.m.
