ELORA – The Elora Festival is joining forces with 10 other classical music festival organizations for an off-season free online show.

Organizers have announced the creation of July in January, an online event featuring live music by 11 classical music festival organizations from across the province.

This project launches on Jan. 28 and features performances from each of the 11 organizations alongside conversations between artistic directors and host Eric Friesen, known for being a host and producer with CBC and NPR.

The Elora Festival Singers, along with artistic director Mark Vuorinen, will be taking part in this event with:

  • Festival of the Sound
  • Collingwood Summer Music Festival
  • Music Niagara Festival
  • Ottawa Chamberfest
  • Prince Edward County Chamber Music Festival
  • Stratford Summer Music
  • Studio ‘S’ Series
  • Sweetwater Music Festival
  • Toronto Summer Music
  • Westben

These organizations have also founded the Classical Music Festivals Canada group which is dedicated to connecting artists, audiences, communities, and professionals from Canada’s classical music sector. July in January is the group’s first endeavour.

The performances are free to watch but viewers are encouraged to support participating organizations through donation links on the website.

The concerts can be watched online here from Jan. 28 to Feb. 28.
