WELLINGTON COUNTY – The County of Wellington has $24.7 million worth of road and bridge projects proposed for next year.
A roads committee report lays out the county’s plan for 2024 when it comes to capital projects in this department which includes four bridge rehabilitations or replacements, five kilometres of road preservation, 16 km of road renewal, one new traffic signal and two new roundabouts.
The projects in the 2024 forecast are:
- Wellington Road 109, CR Bridge 6 B109132 replacement at $5.1 million. This will see the design and tendering of the first of four bridge structures near Arthur on Wellington Road 109 with work expected to commence late 2024.
- Wellington Road 109, Teviotdale to Harriston at $5 million. Ten kilometres of existing road will be recycled, paved with widened shoulders.
- Wellington Road 18, Fergus to Dufferin at $5 million. This work will include rehabilitation of two kilometres of roadway, a roundabout at Wellington Road 18 and Wellington Road 26, a roundabout at Wellington Road 18 and Second Line, and the signalization of Wellington Road 18 and Wellington Road 29.
- Wellington Road 124, Guelph to Whitelaw at $4.15 million. First phase of the project to reconstruct Wellington Road 124 will see the addition of a turning lane through a section of road close to Guelph and renewed traffic signals at Whitelaw Road.
- Pavement preservation at various locations at $2 million.
- Wellington Road 11, 16th Line to Wellington Road 109 at $1.25 million. Road recycling and paving.
- Wellington Road 12, Bridge B012100 replacement at $970,000. Removal and replacement of the existing structure.
- Wellington Road 34, Irish Creek Bridge rehabilitation at $800,000. Rehabilitation of the existing structure. Scheduling for it will be determined through coordination with the MTO to limit impacts of the road closure.
- Wellington Road 11, Flax Bridge rehabilitation at $500,000. Rehabilitation to extend the lifecycle with replacement anticipated at the end of the 10-year budget forecast.
