SAULT STE. MARIE – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to make a second quarter (July 1 – Sept. 30) payment totaling $737,764 to the Township of Centre Wellington for hosting Elements Casino Grand River.

So far, during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025), Centre Wellington has received $1,478,191. Since the gaming site opened in December 2003, Centre Wellington has received $43,569,827.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“As it has for decades in Ontario, land-based gaming continues to serve as a source of good local jobs and generates vital economic activity in the communities that host gaming sites,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “From helping build neighbourhood parks to supporting community programs, proceeds received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG help make municipalities all across the province better places to live and work."

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.

Over the past eight years, service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. Since 2016, these investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and additional gaming expansions and non-gaming amenities.

OLG is a crown agency that contributes to a better Ontario by delivering great entertainment experiences for our customers. Acting in a socially responsible way, OLG conducts and manages land-based gaming facilities; the sale of province-wide lottery games; Internet gaming; and the delivery of bingo and other electronic gaming products at Charitable Gaming Centres. OLG is also helping support the horse racing industry in Ontario. Since 1975, OLG has generated approximately $62 billion for the people and Province of Ontario to support key government priorities like health care; the treatment and prevention of problem gambling; and support for amateur athletes. Each year profits from OLG's operations also support host communities, Ontario First Nations, lottery retailers and local charities across the province.
