I have been passionate about real estate investing for almost 30 years now. I can remember buying my first home with a basement apartment on the west side of Guelph. I had high hopes of the rental income offsetting the costs of the home, knowing little about real estate investing or what would be involved. Fast forward a couple of decades, and I now have personal experience with student rentals, buying condos on speculation, short term cottage vacation rentals, converting homes into legal duplexes, buying a building lot, and purchasing real estate outside of Canada. I also spent six years owning and managing a cottage vacation rental management company for cottages throughout Ontario.
Going through these ups and downs with my wife (Jackie Curtis), who is also a real estate representative here at Coldwell Banker Neumann Real Estate, has been an amazing experience.
